With the new year approaching and our recent office move complete, this is an ideal time to take stock of our past work and outline our development plans for 2026 and beyond…
Evolving Our Production Process
The most significant change going forward concerns how we will develop all future projects, including books and other items funded via Kickstarter. From now on, we will aim to have at least 70% of each project completed before its campaign concludes, ensuring that only a small portion remains to be finished afterward.
For books, we will standardize future releases at 112 pages each. For our first two titles of 2026, we will use saved funds from previous years to complete the cover and first 80 pages before the campaign ends, with the remaining pages created shortly after. If these campaigns are successful and recover their costs, this approach will continue for all future releases, guaranteeing every book meets the 112-page standard.
If, however, the campaigns do not perform as strongly as anticipated, we will adjust accordingly; starting with 80-page base books, and allowing stretch goals to determine the final expanded size during the campaign.
Regardless of outcome, this new approach will mean much faster delivery times. Rather than 3-4 months of post-campaign production before printing, we anticipate needing no more than one month. As a result, printing and shipping should begin within two months of each campaign’s end, allowing backers to receive their rewards significantly sooner. This will also simplify the process for everyone post campaign when we charge shipping fees and run our post-campaign surveys.
Loyalty Discounts for Returning Backers
As a thank-you to our long-time supporters, we will be introducing a loyalty discount for Collector’s Editions of our upcoming books. Backers who have pledged for any of our past titles will receive a special link for our next campaign, granting access to a significant discount on the Collector’s Edition tier.
Unlike traditional early bird offers, which we felt were unfair to those unable to pledge immediately, this loyalty discount will remain available throughout the campaign. It is designed as a reward for past support, not as a time-limited offer.
Going forward, this system will continue. For our first book of 2026, all previous book backers will be eligible for the discount. For the second book of the year, eligibility will be limited to backers of the first 2026 title. This pattern will repeat for future campaigns, rewarding those who continue to support each release in sequence. If this approach proves successful, we may expand loyalty discounts to additional pledge tiers in the future.
